Join artist Nicky Kriara for a hands-on, two-day mural intensive where you'll learn how to bring large-scale art to life—from concept to completion. Over the course of the weekend, participants will work collaboratively to paint a vibrant community 10’x 17’ mural on the busy southeast corner of SE Grand Ave, on the Urbanite building, visible to thousands of passersby each day.

The workshop will begin in the lovely and spacious upstairs classroom loft (check in at the front desk) at Urbanite on Saturday. We’ll discuss working with clients, pricing, securing permits, paint-mixing with house paint, and developing conceptual starting points for public art. Then we’ll walk through different image transfer techniques for murals. Using an original mural design created by Nicky specifically for this project, the class will take part in the transfer process and then roll up their sleeves to paint the mural together. Every participant will have the chance to contribute to painting the mural, leaving their mark on this permanent public artwork.

This is a great opportunity to gain practical experience in mural-making, whether you're new to public art or looking to deepen your skills in a collaborative environment.
